Memory Verse Monday
Every Monday, I start the day with a brand new Bible verse for Mason to learn through out the week. Mason recites his memory verse several times a day, every day, until he has absolutely got it down. On Sundays, we go out to eat with my grandparents after church and Mason proudly recites the memory verse he has worked on so diligently all week. I started picking out memory verses for Mason (and later on, Jensen) because I want our boys to be able to recall God’s words when they need them the most….which is ALL the time!
With Mason’s Childhood Apraxia of Speech, I didn’t want to pick a verse that he would struggle with. I also didn’t want to pick a verse that wouldn’t challenge him. So far, Mason has exceeded my expectations and can recall both of the memory verses from the past two weeks. He’s also picking this one up quickly!
1 Corinthians 13:4- All About Love
This week’s memory verse is a part of a widely popular group of verses out of 1 Corinthians. It is easily recognizable and easy for Mason to remember. It also packs a big lesson for Mason. Right now, Mason is having to learn to share with and be kind to his brother, especially when Jensen aggravates him. Mason tends to reprimand his brother in a not so kind manner which we are trying to correct. And what’s the best way to remember how to love someone? By remembering what God says love is!
These memory verses aren’t just having an impact on Mason. With Tommy and I helping him to remember them, the repetition is also helping us “write them on our hearts.” This is exactly what God wants from us! He wants us to not only remember His words, but He wants us to LIVE them, AND pass them down through the generations. The more Bible verses we learn, the easier it is to recall them in our times of need, and the easier it is to remember how we should be living our lives.
Stick with me as I post weekly Bible verses aimed at the toddlers in our lives, but great for the whole family to memorize through out the week!
